The premise
The inmates of an insane asylum take over the institution, imprison the doctors and staff, and then put into play their own ideas of how the place should be run.

When the inmates of a remote asylum seize control from their captors, the line between the sane and the insane dissolves into something far more terrifying. Director Juan López Moctezuma crafts a fever-dream descent into a world where the rules of civilization are gleefully discarded and replaced with something altogether more primal. Loosely inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, the film wallows in grotesque imagery and surreal dread that lingers long after the credits roll. Expect little comfort and no easy answers.
