The premise
The Vampire Diaries spin-off that follows the Mikaelsons, a family of millennia-old, power-hungry vampires who want to reclaim the city they built, New Orleans, and dominate all those who have wronged them.

Deep in the heart of New Orleans, the Mikaelson siblings — the world's first and most formidable vampires — return to reclaim the decadent city they once built from the ground up. What they find is a fractured supernatural underworld ruled by warring factions of witches, werewolves, and vampires, none willing to surrender without a fight. As old blood ties are tested and dangerous alliances are forged, the Mikaelsons must decide whether power or family will be their ultimate priority. This spin-off from The Vampire Diaries carves out its own identity through lavish gothic atmosphere and ruthlessly compelling characters.
