The Screaming Skull1958
“The tortured ghost who claims vengeance in the bride's bedroom!”
Directed by Alex Nicol
The premise
Newlyweds Eric and Jenni Whitlock retire to his desolate mansion, where Eric's first wife Marianne died from a mysterious freak accident. Jenni, who has a history of mental illness, begins to see strange things including a mysterious skull, which may or may not be a product of her imagination.
Horror Vault's take
When newlyweds retreat to a gloomy estate shadowed by the death of the husband's first wife, the new bride begins experiencing terrifying visions — chief among them a mysterious skull that seems to appear from nowhere. Her troubled mental history makes it impossible to know whether she is unraveling from within or being stalked by something far more sinister. The crumbling mansion itself feels like a character, steeped in secrets and an oppressive sense of dread. This late-1950s chiller keeps viewers guessing whether the horror is supernatural, psychological, or something altogether more human.
