The premise

The Theatre of Death in Paris specialises in horror presentations. A police surgeon finds himself becoming involved in the place through his attraction to one of the performers. When bloodless bodies start showing up all over town he realises there could be links with the theatre.

Horror Vault's take

In the shadowy world of Parisian grand guignol theatre, a police surgeon is drawn into a web of intrigue after his infatuation with a striking performer leads him too close to the stage's darkest secrets. As the city's morgues begin filling with victims drained of blood, the line between theatrical horror and real-world terror begins to blur. Christopher Lee commands the screen as the theatre's enigmatic director, presiding over a company where the macabre is both art and something potentially far worse. This stylish late-sixties chiller blends murder mystery with Gothic atmosphere to deliver a slow-burn investigation laced with dread.
