The premise
Londoners Maya and Jamie escape their urban nightmare to the tranquility of rural Ireland only to discover malevolent, murderous goblins lurking in the gnarled, ancient wood at the foot of their new garden. When heavily pregnant Maya’s relationship with a local family turns sour, who – or what – will come to her rescue and to what extremes will she go to protect her unborn child?

When a London couple flees city violence to inherit a remote Irish cottage, they hope for a fresh start — but the ancient woodland bordering their new home harbours something far more dangerous than superstition. As Maya's pregnancy brings her maternal instincts to a razor's edge, tensions with a volatile local family push events toward brutal confrontation. Ireland's oldest folklore turns out to be very much alive, and the creatures at the garden's edge may be the least predictable danger of all. Equal parts dark fairy tale and visceral survival horror, Unwelcome leans hard into its genre roots without ever losing a streak of wicked humour.
