The premise
After 37 years, the canals of Amsterdam are once again turning blood red. Tara Lee is a young ambitious detective with the Amsterdam police force who is confronted by a number of gruesome incidents around the canals. She enlists the help of Visser, a retired detective who once nabbed a serial killer stalking those same canals. They face an adversary who seems to possess superhuman powers.

Decades after a notorious serial killer terrorised Amsterdam's iconic waterways, the canals are once again the site of shocking, brutal crimes. A driven young detective finds herself out of her depth and turns to the retired cop whose career was defined by the original case. Together they pursue a killer who appears to defy the limits of ordinary human capability — raising unsettling questions about what, exactly, they are up against.
