The premise

Eight tales based on the most brutally terrifying Mexican traditions and legends, an anthology of haunting stories woven into the fabric of the Mexican culture, some told through the centuries and some new, but all equally frightening. Bogeymen, trolls, ghosts, monsters, all brought to life. Time for Aztec sacrifices. This is the Day of the Dead.

Horror Vault's take

Barbarous Mexico is an anthology horror film that plunges viewers into eight tales drawn from the darkest corners of Mexican folklore and tradition. From ancient Aztec sacrificial rites to haunting urban legends passed down through generations, each segment channels the fears deeply embedded in Mexican cultural identity. Bogeymen, spirits, and monsters roam these stories with an authenticity that sets this collection apart from mainstream Western horror anthologies. It is a vivid and brutal celebration of the terror that lives within a culture's own mythology.
