“Making movies can be MURDER!”
Directed by Dusty Nelson
The premise
Some crew members of a company shooting a horror film begin to suspect that the "killings" in the movie are real, and that they are actually making a "snuff" film.
Horror Vault's take
Deep in the low-budget trenches of regional horror filmmaking, a small crew begins to notice that the on-screen carnage may not be as staged as they were led to believe. Suspicion festers among the cast and crew as the line between performance and genuine violence starts to blur in deeply disturbing ways. Effects is a raw, self-aware chiller that turns the camera on the machinery of horror itself, asking uncomfortable questions about who is watching and why. With practical effects work from Tom Savini and a claustrophobic atmosphere, it's a uniquely sinister artifact of late-70s indie horror.
