The premise
An aspiring hairdresser becomes the infatuation of a tricophilic man who sells hair extensions to nearby salons. The source is the corpse of a girl whose corpse continues to grow beautiful, voluminous, black hair that comes alive, either driving the extension user insane or killing them.

In the world of Japanese beauty salons, something sinister is woven into the latest must-have hair extensions. A young hairdresser finds herself at the center of a disturbing obsession when a trichophilic morgue worker begins supplying local salons with extensions harvested from a very unusual — and very dangerous — source. The results for unsuspecting clients are increasingly horrifying, as the hair itself seems to have a vengeful will of its own. Director Sion Sono delivers a gleefully grotesque blend of J-horror dread and jet-black comedy that gets under your skin in the most literal way.
