Guinea Pig Part 2: Flower of Flesh and Blood1985
“I am going to show you the ideal of beauty.”
Directed by Hideshi Hino
The premise
A woman kidnapped in the dead of night awakens in a grisly dungeon, where her deranged assailant prepares her body for a morbid ritual.
Horror Vault's take
One of Japanese extreme cinema's most notorious entries, this short film strips horror down to its barest, most confrontational form — a captive woman and a captor whose intentions are as methodical as they are depraved. There is virtually no narrative cushion between the viewer and the carnage on screen, making it an endurance test as much as a film. Its infamy has outlasted decades, cementing its place as a landmark — or warning sign — of transgressive horror.
