The premise

When renowned director Werner Herzog and fellow filmmaker Zak Penn set off to explore the legend of Scotland's Loch Ness monster, they uncover much more than they bargained for. Unexplained sightings of the creature and chaos among the crew create an uneasy feeling that things aren't what they seem.

Horror Vault's take

A mockumentary following legendary director Werner Herzog — playing himself — as he embarks on a documentary shoot investigating the myth of the Loch Ness Monster in the Scottish Highlands. Tensions simmer between Herzog's artistic vision and the scheming ambitions of producer Zak Penn, while strange occurrences on the loch blur the line between hoax and horrifying reality. The film gleefully skewers documentary filmmaking conventions while quietly building genuine unease beneath its comedic surface.
