Bruce Campbell plays a hilariously exaggerated version of himself — a washed-up B-movie icon who gets kidnapped by a desperate fan convinced that the man who slayed demons on screen can handle the real thing. A genuine monster is terrorizing a small Oregon town, and poor Bruce is wildly unprepared for anything that isn't a film set. Equal parts loving tribute and ruthless self-roast, the film leans hard into Campbell's legendary cult status. Fans of the Evil Dead universe will find plenty of winking in-jokes tucked into every corner.
