The premise
After an earthquake uncovers an abandoned goldmine, a hiker falls in and is trapped, forcing friends to grapple with a moral dilemma that spirals into madness.

Deep in a remote forest, a group of hikers stumbles upon a long-abandoned goldmine freshly exposed by an earthquake — and one of their own falls in. What begins as a desperate rescue quickly unravels as the promise of gold and something far older and darker begin to eat away at the bonds between them. The wilderness itself seems to conspire against the group as loyalties collapse and sanity frays. Barbara Crampton lends genre credibility to this slow-burn tale of nature's wrath and human weakness.
