Sugar Hill1974
“Meet Sugar Hill and her zombie hitmen... The mafia has never met anything like them!”
Directed by Paul Maslansky
The premise
When a nightclub owner is murdered by gangsters after refusing to sell his business to the mob boss, his grieving fiancé enlists the help of a voodoo priestess to avenge his death.
Horror Vault's take
When the mob muscles in on her fiancé's nightclub and pays the ultimate price in blood, Sugar Hill refuses to grieve quietly — she turns to ancient voodoo and a legion of the undead to deliver justice no courtroom ever could. Set against the gritty backdrop of 1970s blaxploitation cinema, the film blends supernatural menace with crime thriller energy and a razor-sharp sense of style. Director Paul Maslansky crafts a cult curio where the supernatural is a weapon of the disenfranchised, and the villains learn that some debts are collected from beyond the grave.
