The premise
A dying professor leaves his great-nephew a collection of documents pertaining to the Cthulhu Cult. The nephew begins to learn why the study of the cult so fascinated his grandfather. Bit-by-bit he begins piecing together the dread implications of his grandfather's inquiries, and soon he takes on investigating the Cthulhu cult as a crusade of his own.

When a young man inherits a trove of documents from his late great-uncle, he finds himself drawn into a labyrinthine investigation surrounding a mysterious and ancient cult. Filmed in the style of a silent-era picture — complete with black-and-white photography and intertitles — this faithful adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's seminal story immerses viewers in a creeping sense of dread that feels ripped from the 1920s. The deeper the nephew digs into his predecessor's obsessive research, the more the weight of what he uncovers threatens to consume him entirely.
