When a Los Angeles social worker dismisses the desperate warnings of a troubled mother, she unwittingly draws herself and her own children into the path of La Llorona — a wrathful spirit torn from the depths of Mexican legend. The weeping ghost has haunted folklore for centuries, and now she prowls the streets of 1970s LA with deadly intent toward the young. With her family under siege, the social worker must turn to an unorthodox former priest whose unconventional methods may be their only line of defense. Part ghost story, part creature feature, the film leans hard into the myth to deliver old-fashioned supernatural terror.
