The premise

The wealthy patriarch of the Sinclair family lives in mortal fear of being buried alive due to a rare condition that causes him to sometimes appear lifeless. After his death, relatives learn that his will stipulates a strict series of orders that must be followed in order to receive their inheritance. The family refuses to comply and the patriarch returns from the grave to exact revenge by killing each of them in the way they fear most.

Horror Vault's take

When a wealthy and eccentric patriarch dies under mysterious circumstances, his fractious family quickly dismisses the chilling conditions laid out in his will — a decision they may come to deeply regret. One by one, members of the Sinclair household find themselves stalked by a terror that seems to know their darkest, most personal fears. This early 1960s Gothic chiller revels in old-dark-house atmosphere and escalating dread, making it a curio of pre-Hammer American horror. It also marks a notable early screen appearance from a future Hollywood legend.
