The premise

In the late 1920s, Albert Fish, a seemingly benevolent father and grandfather who reared his family by himself after his wife deserted them, turns out to be a serial child molester and murderer. Based on a true story.

Horror Vault's take

Set in the late 1920s, The Gray Man pulls back the curtain on Albert Fish — a mild-mannered family man whose grandfatherly exterior concealed one of America's most disturbing criminal minds. The film traces the real-life story of a predator who operated in plain sight, targeting the most vulnerable victims imaginable. It is a slow, suffocating portrait of evil dressed in the ordinary, drawn from documented historical accounts. Viewers should be prepared for unflinching darkness with little cathartic relief.
