When an archaeologist's dig uncovers a mysterious ancient skull in the English countryside, a chain of disturbing disappearances and increasingly strange events grips the local community. Director Ken Russell adapts Bram Stoker's lesser-known novel with his trademark excess, weaving together pagan mythology, serpentine menace, and pitch-black comedy.
