The Shock Labyrinth2009
Directed by Takashi Shimizu
The premise
The horror-thriller follows a group of teenagers dealing with the disappearance of one of them, Yuki, at an amusement park's haunted house. On a rainy day 10 years later, Yuki inexplicably returns. However, no sooner is she united with her former friends than she collapses, and the group rushes Yuki to a nearby hospital. But after checking in, they discover that things are not quite as they seem at the medical center. As the night wears on, the group sinks deeper and deeper into the events from a decade ago that led to Yuki's disappearance.
Horror Vault's take
A decade after a young girl vanishes inside a haunted house attraction, she reappears without explanation — only to plunge her reunited friends into a nightmare that blurs the line between the living and the dead. What begins as a frantic rush to a hospital quickly becomes something far more sinister, as the walls of that strange medical center seem to fold in on themselves. The group must confront the buried truth of what really happened that fateful day, all while struggling to distinguish memory from madness. This Japanese supernatural chiller leans into guilt and grief as much as it does into its labyrinthine frights.
