The premise
After the mysterious death of his Aunt, a confirmed skeptic lawyer, Bryan Becket, dismisses reports that her house is haunted and moves in. Immediately occurrences begin he cannot explain. And beyond the occurrences there is something about the house which gnaws at Becket - some strange connection he senses he has with the house's past. Soon, the haunting turns personal.

When a rational, no-nonsense lawyer inherits his late aunt's estate, he scoffs at whispers that the old house is haunted — and promptly moves in to prove a point. Strange, inexplicable events begin to erode his certainty, but what unsettles him most is an eerie, inexplicable sense that he and this house share a hidden history. The haunting refuses to stay impersonal, pressing deeper into his psychology the longer he stays. What begins as a skeptic's experiment edges toward something far more intimate and disturbing.
