“So you want to join the internet's scariest online horror game?”
Directed by Jane Schoenbrun

The premise
Reality and fantasy begin to blur when a teenager, alone in her attic bedroom, immerses herself in a role-playing horror game online.
Horror Vault's take
Deep in the quiet of a winter night, a solitary teenager takes the pledge to join the World's Fair — an online horror role-playing phenomenon — and begins documenting the strange changes that follow. What starts as a creepypasta ritual spirals into something far more ambiguous, as the line between performance and genuine transformation grows impossible to read. A mysterious older man watching her videos online becomes an unexpected presence in her unraveling world. This intimate, lo-fi portrait of internet culture and adolescent loneliness is less concerned with conventional scares than with the eerie texture of being young and unseen.
Content: Depictions Of Loneliness And Emotional Distress, Potentially Disturbing Online Interaction Between A Minor And An Adult, Mild Body Horror Imagery, Psychological Ambiguity That May Be Disorienting
