The premise
A couple of English tourists arrive at the island of Almanzora, off the Spanish Mediterranean coast, where they discover that there are no adults in a small fishing village, only some children who stare at them and smile mysteriously.
Horror Vault's take
A British couple on a sun-drenched Mediterranean getaway sail to the seemingly idyllic island of Almanzora, only to find its quaint fishing village eerily deserted of adults. The children who remain watch the newcomers with unnerving, silent smiles, and it quickly becomes clear that something has gone catastrophically wrong on the island. What unfolds is a slow-burn nightmare that forces its protagonists — and the audience — into a deeply uncomfortable moral reckoning. Few horror films of its era dared to ask such a genuinely disturbing ethical question.
