Horror Vault's take

Set in the fog-shrouded Welsh countryside of 1905, a desperate man infiltrates a reclusive island commune to rescue his kidnapped sister from the grip of a charismatic and dangerous prophet. What begins as a tense rescue mission slowly peels back the cult's deeply unsettling rituals, revealing secrets far older and stranger than any sermon. Director Gareth Evans brings the same visceral intensity he honed in action cinema to a slow-burn folk horror that grows increasingly savage. The island itself feels like a living, breathing threat — and in ways the newcomer cannot yet imagine, it may well be.
