The premise
After several years in an insane asylum, Evelyn, the keeper of the Mountaintop Motel, is released and resumes doing business. She kills her young charge out of anger, but convinces the police it was an accident - and pushed into insanity, she then proceeds to target her guests, first by releasing vermin into their rooms, but then by using her trusty sickle.
Horror Vault's take
Deep in the backwoods, a roadside motel becomes the last stop for a handful of unlucky travelers who have no idea their innkeeper has a very dark past. Evelyn runs her establishment with a smile, but something deeply wrong lurks just beneath the surface — and her guests are about to find out the hard way. Armed with a sickle and access to every room, she is a villain cut from the same cloth as the genre's most iconic killers. This low-budget regional slasher delivers old-school suspense with a creeping, suffocating sense of dread.
