A fictionalized young Edgar Allan Poe, still a West Point cadet, stumbles into something far darker than a routine training exercise when he and his fellow cadets uncover a grim find in the wilds of upstate New York. The discovery pulls them toward a reclusive settlement whose inhabitants seem desperate to keep something buried. As the cadets dig deeper, the line between legend and living nightmare begins to blur. The film weaves the atmosphere of Poe's later literary work into a gothic origin story dripping with dread.
