Set against the sun-bleached desolation of a remote desert motel, The Boy offers a chilling and intimate study of a nine-year-old whose curiosity darkens into something far more dangerous. Director Craig William Macneill strips away any comforting distance, forcing viewers to sit uncomfortably close to a child on the cusp of becoming a killer. It is less a conventional horror film than a slow-burn psychological portrait — quiet, deliberate, and deeply unsettling.
