The premise
In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.

Deep in rural Texas, a ragtag crew of aspiring adult filmmakers rent a remote farmhouse to shoot their passion project, unaware that their elderly hosts harbor dangerously volatile secrets. Ti West's sun-drenched 1970s throwback builds a slow, suffocating unease before exploding into visceral, classic-slasher carnage. As much a meditation on desire and mortality as it is a body-count horror film, X earns its shocks through character and atmosphere rather than cheap tricks. Fans of grindhouse cinema will find plenty to savor in its layered, deliberately crafted dread.
