The premise
A prison riot breaks out at the moment of a serial murderer's execution by electrocution, and his fate becomes indeterminate when the prison is shut down. 18 months later, a team of filmmakers converge on the prison to film a women-in-prison exploitation flick, but find that a certain somebody is disrupting their shooting schedule...

When a notorious serial killer's execution is thrown into chaos by a prison riot, his ultimate fate is left disturbingly unresolved. Eighteen months on, a scrappy film crew moves into the decommissioned penitentiary to shoot a low-budget exploitation picture — blissfully unaware of what may still lurk within its walls. What begins as a chaotic but routine shoot quickly turns deadly as the production faces a far more dangerous kind of disruption. Destroyer serves up its slasher thrills with a self-aware, behind-the-scenes twist that keeps the tension coiled in the grimy corridors of an institution that never quite let go of its past.
