In a near-future world, a rare few individuals known as Scanners possess devastating telepathic and telekinetic abilities that can overwhelm — or destroy — any mind they encounter. When a rogue Scanner with virtually limitless power begins rallying others toward violent conflict, a shadowy organization recruits a reluctant Scanner of their own to hunt him down. Director David Cronenberg turns the espionage thriller inside out, staging a psychic arms race where the battlefield is the human body itself. Expect escalating dread and some of genre cinema's most unforgettable practical-effects imagery.
